The Domino Effect: The Towel That Changed the Plans

The Tiny Mistake Can Cost Big…

In business, just like in life, it’s often the many small things accumulated that cause the biggest problems.

To many tiny oversights, forgotten detail and suddenly, you’re scrambling to fix something that could have been avoided.

We recently learned this lesson the hard way. It all started with a simple bathroom survey and one tiny, avoidable mistake.

Our team was assigned to survey a bathroom for interior designers. The task? Measure everything internally with precision and build a 3D Sketchup Model and create Aa-Built drawings to enable them to work on the Interior design.

So, we scanned the bathroom, confident that we had covered everything. But later, when reviewing the scan data, something was Missing.

What happened? Clutter.

A few towels over the toilet had blocked a small but important section of the scan. The result? Missed data. That missing piece meant our final drawings weren’t complete.

We caught the issue only when the client come back to us but thankfully we had the scan date at the corner of the outline and shape of the service box and we adjusted the plans quickly without the revisit. But the experience was a powerful reminder that the smallest details are the easiest to miss.

Small Details Can Have Big Consequences

It’s easy to overlook tiny obstacles. But in precision work like surveying for interior design, these details matter a lot. A single miscalculation can lead to expensive errors and delays in design. The lesson? Always check, double check, and clear your space.

Clutter Can Obstruct Objects.

What we can see we can measure so clutter is the enemy of measured building surveys. The best way to avoid missing measurements? Declutter before Measured house survey is carried out.

Never Assume, Always Verify.

One of the biggest mistakes is assuming that everything is fine without verifying.

Reviewing, making amendments will cost less time and energy if done immediately so never leave things to chance.

Success isn’t about luck, it’s about paying attention to the little things that others overlook.

Whether you’re running a business, managing a project, working on design or measuring buildings, understanding and focus on the task is key to success.

🚀 Need a measured building survey done from some one who has learned from there mistakes and get it done right with the first time?
